RARE Collective are York based artists Sharon McDonagh and Sola; their mission to champion the overlooked; the creatives, the independents and the underdogs.

 

Founded in late 2025 and built on grit, graft and a refusal to play small, RARE transforms spaces into bold creative moments with real community impact.

Both were part of the crew behind a series of groundbreaking charity street art events in York’s disused Low Ousegate office block, which raised significant funds for local charities York Mind and SASH.  Sola was responsible for the curation of the DJ line-ups, the audio-visuals and the design/creation of the DJ booths for each event. 

 

They began shaping what would become their signature craft, a seamless fusion of creativity and audio visual expression.​

RARE is their new venture, taking their skills and experience forward in a new direction and teaming up with other likeminded creative forces.  They continue in their quest to bring art, music and creativity to the forefront of community power.
